UNSATISFACTORY PARTICIPATION
IN 12 MONTHS:
6 Unexcused absences
= DEMOTION
9 Unexcused absences
= INVOLUNTARY DISCHARGE
Remember, a Drill weekend consists of 4 drill periods. If a member misses 1 day of drill, it is the equivalent of 2 absences.
This is ONLY a guide to facilitate ACTION, create REMINDERS, and provide QUESTIONS to think about
Please use applicable directive(s) for specific instructions
UNSAT PARTICIPATION DIRECTIVE(S)
ANGI 36-2001, Management of Training & Operational Support within the ANG
AFI 36-3209, Separation & Retirement Procedures for ANG & AFR Members
If member does not show up to Drill, the Supervisor must attempt to contact member within two hours after scheduled show-time. If contact is made anytime during the UTA/IDT, the commander may excuse, unexcuse, or authorize other training as appropriate, based upon the situation.
If no contact can be established by the supervisor, try other methods to locate member (drive to member’s home, ask member’s friends how to contact member, etc)
ACTION 1
If commander does not excuse absence, complete Record of Telephone Contact & keep for your records.
If there is still no response from member, supervisor sends an Unexcused Absence letter via certified mail to the member. Ensure a copy is kept, as proof of notice. Send a letter for each unexcused absence (or one per UTA).
Consider recommending demotion, involuntary transfer to IRR or discharge if unit CC determines member has no potential for useful service under conditions of full mobilization.
