DISCHARGES (INVOLUNTARY)
Involuntary discharges are NOT a substitute for disciplinary action.
If violations of UCMJ or state military code are involved, CCs must consult SJA for advice. When it its determined that admin discharge is the best course of action, then it is important that Admin Discharge packages be properly accomplished and routed through the Wing and JFHQ before they are forwarded to NGB/A1PP.
*CC MUST give member written notice of proposed discharge; Letter of Notification (LON)

Is member board entitled?
• Respondent has 6+ years TAFMS and/or is NCO; OR
• CC is recommending UOTHC discharge; OR
• Respondent is commissioned or warrant officer
Does member hold SCI clearance?
What are you recommending (Honorable, General, UOTHC) to CC & why?
ACTION 1
Consult with SJA/FSS prior to initiating any discharge
Reference AFI for specific guidance
Gather docs/evidence which support basis for discharge
– Examples: LOC/LOR, fitness docs, etc…
– Include any rehabilitative efforts taken by unit
